Hiking Down Schweitzer Mountain

We decided to ride the lift up and then hike down the mountain. It was pretty cold when we started hiking at the top of the mountain. Emma was fussing because she was so cold, which is odd because she is the one who is always complaining about being too warm and loves the cold. We bundled her up in Rick's extra jacket but it didn't take long before layers started coming off. By the end she was complaining that she couldn't take her pants off and wear shorts. Manda was complaining for whole different reason. Let's just say that you SHOULD go to the restroom before riding up the lift if you don't like going out in nature!

This is where we spotted bear number 2 but I couldn't get the camera out and ready before it disappeared. The funniest/scariest part about it was that there were some hikers on the trail about 100 yards in front of it and they had no idea that a big bear was right behind them. The rest of the time I kept looking around and wondering if there was a bear near us and we just didn't realize it. It was a pretty big one too... much bigger than the little black bear that we found outside of our condo.

It was under 3 miles but it was pretty steep in places, thankfully they had a good trail to follow that was separate from the mountain bike trails that looked fun but crazy.
