The Big Move

We made it! Safe and sound and all snuggled up in lots of layers of clothing. Rick had to get back to work so he left with the first truck and couple of kids a few days before I could get out the door with the rest of the stuff. Of course, my caravan was a little slower going and it took us 5 days to get here. Laura was driving the mini van, along with Tyler Schild's help and I was in the huge truck. I thought that I would spend most days lonely, since the mini van has the TV. But Emma and Sam rode with me almost every mile of the journey! Lucky me, Emma was just the height of my ear as she rode in her booster seat next to me! And who knew that the child would have so much to say about every single thing??? I guess the truck being so high and her being in the front gave her a whole new insight to the world around us. My ears and nerves were shot by the end of every day. One day I thought that I would be sly and give her to Laura for awhile. She threw a little bit of a fit, but then went right to sleep for Laura... the blessing of the back seat I guess. I thought that I would get a little break and enjoy a silent ride with Sammy. The thing that I learned is that Sam has just as much to say as Emma, he just doesn't get a chance with his very demanding, chatty little sister. So when there is no competition around, he loves to be heard! It was one of those bitter-sweet lessons in life. Poor, sweet little Sam is so kind and polite and will sit silently waiting for his turn. I loved that time with him, even if my ears still hurt by the end of the day!
