Mothering Moment

Anyone who has been a mother knows that you don't have children to build your self esteem. Kids can say the funniest things but somehow we still end up loving them! Emma and I had one of those moments this week. While driving down the road she said "Mommy, I have a question. It might not be a good question though." I laughed and said "Go ahead", my mistake. She continued "Okay, I was wondering, after you die and are in Heaven, will you still be fat?". What could I say? I just laughed and told her that was something that I had thought about an awful lot also and that I hoped not!!!

She has also been consumed with curiosity about a pretty good sized cemetery that is not too far from our home and we pass often. I guess when it was all snowy she didn't notice all the gravestones but as the weather has warmed, they are a lot more visible. She has had lots of questions about what they are and why we have grave yards. One day while driving by she said "Dang we have a lot of dead people in this town, and it's embarrassing." Sometimes I just am thankful that I don't live inside her head!

Can I just say Emma is adorable. In priamary I have learned some very valuable lessons from her age group but one of the most important is never tell your child anything you don't want repeated. They are so honest and eager to share or ask questions.

Caia was so obsessed with cemeteries she begged to go to funerals and wanted to have her
5th birthday party there!!!

It's good to hear others have these conversations as well.
