While we are on the subject of Manda and her truck crazed adventures, this day made us both laugh with a bitter sweetness. Her truck is often her rescue, her paradise, her escape from the reality that we call our family life. One day while escaping to her dream destination (an old, beat up, red truck that sits on top of our little hill) she came back in looking a little worse for the wear. I asked her what was wrong and she held up her thumb for me to observe. She smiled her way through her pain and said, "It didn't look hot, I didn't even know if it was working or not". Her Dad and I couldn't help but laughing just a little (after icing it, of course) when she announced, "Apparently the lighter does not have to be glowing in order for it to be very hot and burn you". It's ironic in many ways, so many lessons to be learned in this life.
Don't think for a second that she hasn't been asked a dozen times what many of you may be thinking... "What were you doing with the cigarette lighter?". Simply exploring and getting to know the hunk-o-junk that she loves. No, she wasn't smoking, well except for her thumb! And no... she didn't swear when it happened either. Two of our favorite questions. She's just proof, good girls still live!

You're right, I dont' know whether to laugh or cry (knowing how painful that had to been!)
