It was love at first sight. Our Mandy Pandy fell deep and hard the first time she set her eyes upon that red, '68 International Harvester. It took some good ole fashion begging and bartering to convince her Dad that she must have that beauty (and the emptying of her bank account). The truck was owned by a farm in Pullman and they were the original owners. It had been a farm truck for the last 40 years and yet it was still in pretty good shape. They were originally asking $2500 for the truck when Rick and Manda went to take a look at it but they drove away with it for $600! What a deal!!! We had to feel a little bit badly for the poor farmer who's wife insisted that he get rid of the old truck sitting in the barn, we could tell that he really didn't want to. He said his family bought that truck the year he was a senior in high school and used it as a working farm truck for the next 30 years. He put it in the barn thinking that someday he would fix it up. When that didn't happen over the next ten years he decided to sale it for $2500 but didn't have any bites and when we called to take a look at it his wife told him to take $500 and get rid of it. Rick offered him $600 because we are just that generous (and the heart broken look on his face) and away we rolled! =)
Manda wanted to work on it right away and started cleaning it up as soon as we got home. The doors were left open because Manda and Ben were cleaning away and our beagle Louie, happened to jump in. Apparently he knocked it out of gear and the truck started rolling down the hill. Manda said she couldn't do anything to stop it and away it went. Fortunately it rolled into a pretty decent sized shrub that stopped it only missing Rick's car by inches! Whew... that was close! It should be a gem and Manda is just thrilled to have a classic truck.
