Picnic on the Palouse

The Palouse is the nickname for the area that we live in. This year has been such an adventure full of so much beauty. We have loved every season and the incredible scenery surrounding us. It has been so much fun to watch the transition with every season. We look forward to many more years and places to discover. Here are a few of the pictures that we have taken while enjoying the weather and a good picnic.
The rolling hills and fields are covered in intense green during the spring. The farmers plant winter wheat in the fall and more wheat in the spring. It is strikingly beautiful to be surrounded by the calming green wheat fields. By mid July the wheat begins turning the golden color and by August all the green is intense gold. The yellow fields in the pictures are canola. They can be blinding in the bright sun! We hear that there is lanola which is bright purple instead of the yellow... we haven't been able to see any yet but I will take some pics as soon as I find it!

I have to say it...I thought your pictures were fake!! But it is slowly bringing back my rememberance of how I experienced my "First" fall weather in Idaho. I don't think I had ever seen anything like it!!! Nothing like it in texas that's for sure! Keep sharing the beauty!! :)
