Happy Birthday Sammy Boy!

Double digits are here... Sammy Boy is 10 years old!! He is such a sweet boy and it is hard to believe that an entire decade has passed since he joined our family. He was only 3 weeks old when we started the addition on our house. His first year was filled with pounding, hammering, moving walls, putting up new walls, paint fumes and moving his crib from one room to another looking for a restful spot to sleep. It was also filled with some extra family around helping to build and piece our home back together who also stole a piece of Sam's heart. His first kisses ALWAYS went to Uncle Mark, and then ONLY if I was really lucky could I get a kiss from him.

It was during that first year of Sam's life that his cousin Angela joined us in Texas. Having been born within a month of each other, they quickly became the best of friends. 1999 was also the year that we adopted Sam's best friend Walker (Our Cocker Spaniel) from the animal shelter. It was a big year of "additions" for the Bryson clan. So many things have changed this past year and in many ways it is Sam that my heart aches for. Not only did he leave the only home that he has ever known but he left his best friend and cousin. This year we said good bye to our old, hairy, stinky but very loved "hunting dog" ( hunting dog- only in Sam's imagination)that spent hours in the back yard hunting "Cheetahs" with Sam.

Even with all the changes, it has been a good year overall. Sam is doing great in school, has made an awesome new friend here, is active in cub scouts and still keeps us in stitches with his quick wit and sense of humor.

Things that make us smile:

Sam's long eye lashes and big smile
He is such a clown- always surprises us with his funny comments
He read over 20 chapter books in the summer! Yay Sammy!!
Sam is becoming quite the writer... is working on a chapter book now that is hilarious.
He is the first to give his mom a hug in the morning and the last to hug me at night.
He is very tender hearted.
Sam has been working on reading his scriptures every night on his own.
We are so proud of Sam and feel so blessed that he is a part of our family! We love you Sammy!
