Leavenworth... Worth the wait!

Sometimes things just don't go as planned, and I'm learning to be okay with that- sometimes there are better things waiting! =) As disappointed as I am that we had to change our plans at the last minute and not go on our week long river trip and camp in tents, go potty in buckets and not shower for an entire week, I learned to deal with it! Instead, I had to accept fate and learn to be happy snuggled up in a warm bed, nice fire, hot tub and lots of yummy food while enduring the life a condo has to offer. Yep, I'm just that flexible and capable of being happy in any given situation! =)
During the day we played on I.K's and still got plenty of water/river time. The scenery was beautiful, the weather was a little cold our first day out but thank goodness for our good friends and all the equipment and accessories that they had to offer such as dry suits. I managed to be pretty comfortable in one even with the gasket that goes around your neck to prevent water from seeping in. I have a little fear and tend to be freakish about things around my neck, but somehow I managed just fine.
Leavenworth is a little Bavarian style village snuggled in the mountains just north of Wenatchee, Washington. They thrive on festivals in that little town and we enjoyed seeing people in full Bavarian costume to match the darling little village set up. There were even some mountain goats in town to help with the setting. I still would like to see our very tall friend, Darren, and his cute little wife, Stephanie in costume. Oh well, there's always next time! Some of the sights we enjoyed were candy shops, a cheese making shop that smelled like my boys stinky shoes in the summer but had DELICIOUS cheese, bakery, antique shops, and a year round Christmas store complete with thousands of nutcrackers that were outrageously priced. If you ever just want a little European charm on this side of the world, I highly recommend Leavenworth. Thanks Darren and Stephanie for letting us old folks tag along with ya youngsters!

I would take that trade in a heart beat! But the town looked so cute and looks like a fun time for a little getaway.

Looks beautiful...what a great get away...maybe we should have done that instead of the one we have planned that I'm sure will involve lots of tarballs and swimming in oil.
