Sam and Ben were riding their rip sticks to the church which is a mile away from our house. There is a section right before the church that is a hill and quite steep for a rip stick. Ben went down as he has before but warned Sam that he might not want to do it. Sam was not going to back down to the hill though. So off he went, and did quite well making it all the way down the hill... until trying to get back on the sidewalk and he didn't quite lift up his board enough to clear the edge. He took a short flight and a hard landing on his face. He was bloodied up by the time he got to the church and the swelling had already begun. That night he was up with a headache and throwing up, we kept a close eye on him and he was doing better by 2am and finally able to rest. The next morning his eye was swollen shut and he didn't want people to see him with it like that. We reminded him of Ben and Justin when they were little and what an honor it was to get an injury like that. It was just plain "braggin rights". I can't tell you how many times Justin was jealous of Ben's injuries or visa verse...that's a boy for ya! So we told him to be proud of that black eye and wear it with pride, we could even call Justin and tell him about if he wanted! ;)

Ow...and Ben must have been jealous all the time...Justin was a walking wound for several years!
Haha.. true, but Justin never got a black eye until Ben had a couple of them. For some reason a black eye was like the trophy of all trophies! Justin got the broken bones, stitches and all that stuff but no black eyes until much later. But Justin's collection is complete now. =)
