Ok... so the Mom in me comes out a little strong at times. This was one of those times. We drove out to this really beautiful lake not too far from our home and it was completely frozen. There were several people out on the lake ice fishing, even a family with small children running all over the ice. I am not kidding, I got dizzy and could feel my pulse race as I was watching those little ones running on the ice. I was so scared of the ice breaking and the kids falling in the icy water, plunging to their death. I was thinking "what kind of a parent lets their child out on a frozen lake?". Next thing you know, I hear Rick say "yeah, we can go out on the ice...
c'mmon kids". Mother panic hit quickly! Within seconds I was right there on the edge of the lake telling Rick that I didn't think it was a good idea, that is just isn't natural to walk on water! :) I told him that I didn't think the kids should go out there. I guess I was a little louder than what I thought- soon a fisherman out on the lake was jumping up and down on the ice and yelling "look it is thick, I am 300 lbs and it is holding me just fine!". Of course he was the impressive parent with all the young children running around.
lol. I am sure you all know how it goes in our family by now- Rick pushed aside my motherly over-caution and ventured out on the lake with the kids in tow. They loved it and I stood cautiously on the side making sure to yell out the occasional support such as "Rick- Hold Emma's hand" or "Sam stay closer to your Dad" and "Make sure to watch where you're stepping" and let's not forget "watch for cracking ice". When it got to the point that I could feel my heart beat in my throat and started seeing spots I figured I needed to do some breathing
exercises and relax. Somehow they all seemed to survive (thanks to my supervision on the side, I am sure) and thought it was a ton of fun. By the end I even agreed to letting them try ice fishing next weekend. Who knew, you really can walk on water after all?

The lake was frozen over, and Alan thought it'd be fun to go and walk on it. hahaha I know I was just like you! I even told him it was NOT NATURAL to walk on water like that! hahahaha I can even see me acting like that now, even though I survived that experience! hahaha Alan and Rick are a lot alike! hahaa
